Sussex Performance Events and Research (SPEAR) is the public events series run by Drama, Theatre and Performance at the University of Sussex.
Incorporating research talks, artist conversations, performances, symposia and summer schools, SPEAR represents the breadth of research and practice in drama, theatre and performance at Sussex and endeavours to cultivate interdisciplinary conversations between artists, academics, students and audiences.
Drama, Theatre and Performance at Sussex is situated within the School of English and is home to a BA as well as a PhD programme and a soon-to-launch MA in Contemporary Performance (launch date September 2020). The scholarly and pedagogic work of these programmes and the SPEAR series is based in a distinctive interdisciplinary approach to research and teaching, which celebrates and explores the intersections of artistic disciplines including drama, theatre, live art, and choreographic and sonic practices.
